The Internet is a worldwide network of computers that are connected. To connect your computer to the Internet, you will need to use your modem to link to an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The ISP will sell you the right to connect to their computer and use part of that computer's permanent connection to the Internet.
To communicate with the ISP's computer, you will need software that allows your computer to talk to other computers.
